The short answer

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the work of getting a brand mentioned as a source or a recommendation inside the answers produced by AI engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot. SEO ranks you in a list of search results; GEO puts you inside the answer the AI writes.

Providers working in this field in Turkey fall into three groups: new agencies focused purely on GEO, SEO-rooted agencies adding GEO to their service list, and agencies that deliver AI automation and marketing together. The right choice depends on whether you want to run GEO on its own or alongside your existing marketing and automation work.

What to look for in a GEO agency

This field is new, so there are plenty of claims and very little measurement. Ask these six questions when you take a proposal.

  1. Do they show you a baseline measurement?

Before the work starts, which questions your brand does and does not appear in should be recorded in writing. Without a baseline, any claim of progress is unverifiable.

  2. Which engines do they track?

ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews draw on different sources. Appearing in one does not guarantee appearing in another; tracking should cover all of them.

  3. Do they build the technical foundation?

Structured data (schema), llms.txt, a robots.txt open to AI crawlers and a readable page structure are the base of the work. Producing content without them is wasted effort.

  4. Is there an off-site authority plan?

AI mostly builds its answer from third-party sources. Directory listings, industry lists and independent mentions should be part of the plan.

  5. How fast do they promise results?

A realistic range is two to six months. Be cautious with a proposal that guarantees results in a few weeks; the source pool of AI engines does not refresh that quickly.

  6. What does reporting look like?

Which questions you appear in, and how you are mentioned in each answer, should be reported regularly and comparably. A screenshot on its own is not measurement.

How Vera Bilişim does this work

We have been doing digital marketing since 2008 and built GEO on top of that. We set up for clients exactly the method we run on our own site: weekly automated visibility measurement, technical foundation (schema, llms.txt, robots open to AI crawlers), content that answers target questions directly, and authority building through directory listings.

Here is our difference: we do not sell GEO on its own. When AI visibility starts bringing you customers, we also build the WhatsApp assistant, the lead generation system and the CRM integration that will handle that demand, under the same roof.

Frequently asked questions

Should SEO and GEO be run together?

Running them together is the right approach. SEO makes your brand visible in Google results, GEO in AI answers from ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, but they share the same content, technical foundation and authority signals. Doing one and skipping the other means giving up half the return on the same effort.

What is the difference between GEO and SEO?

SEO ranks your brand in the Google results list and the user clicks a link. GEO puts your brand inside the answer the AI writes; often the user never clicks anything and simply notes the name in the answer. Neither replaces the other; they use the same content foundation in different ways.

How long does GEO work take to show results?

The technical foundation goes up in a few weeks, but appearing in AI answers usually takes two to six months. The reason: AI engines build their answers largely from third-party sources, and those sources take time to be created and crawled.

What does a GEO service cost?

Published ranges in Turkey start at a few thousand lira per month and go up to around forty thousand. The difference comes from scope: technical setup only, or continuous content production and authority work as well. Ask for the scope to be written out line by line when you take a proposal.

Can a small business benefit from GEO?

Yes, and the competitive advantage is actually larger for a small business. Only a handful of names appear in AI answers and the field is not yet crowded. Showing up in local and niche questions is easier today than reaching the top spot for the same question on Google.

How do I verify that I appear in AI answers?

Define your target questions, ask each engine the same question at regular intervals and record whether you are mentioned. You can do this by hand, but automating it is more reliable. Measurement should be a time series, not a one-off check.
